Karl F. Kress, 81, of St. Clairsville, formerly of Maple Avenue, Woodsfield, died early Oct. 23, 1995, at the Park Health Center, St. Clairsville. He was born in Sistersville on March 30, 1914, a son of the late Frederick and Margaret Bosold Kress.

He was the owner of the former Karl Kress Motors, Inc., Woodsfield. He was a member of the St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield and a former member of the Woodsfield Lions Club.

Surviving are three sons, David of Bethlehem, Penn., Philip and Richard, both of St. Clairsville; two daughters, Louise Hughes of Woodsfield and Barbara Maybury of Westerville; two brothers, George of Woodsfield and Oscar of Twinsburg; three sisters, Florence Schumacher of Woodsfield, Edith Reischman of Miltonsburg and Alice Buckalew of Woodsfield; 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Paulus Kress on Nov. 4, 1968; one brother, Gilbert and one sister, Marie Cornett.

There was no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 25 with Father Virgil Reischman and Father James Dunfee officiating at the St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield. Interment was in the St. Sylvester Church Cemetery. Vigil Services were held Oct. 24 at the funeral home. Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield in charge of arrangements.
