DEATH OF MRS. LOAN SR.

The sudden death of Mrs. George Loan Sr., at her home, 1603 West Third street, yesterday afternoon came as a shock to her many friends. She had been ailing for several days but had recovered sufficiently to be up and about the house. Yesterday morning she complained of great pain in her chest. Neuralgia of the heart was a trouble to which she was subject and while no serious results were feared, everything in human power was done to alleviate it, but in vain. The end came suddenly at 5 o'clock, as turning quietly on her pillow, she sank into her deep sleep as tranquilly and peacefully as her life had been lived. Her cheerfulness in enduring suffering, her serenity in times of trouble, her unfailing charity toward all, will keep her memory ever fresh in the hearts of all who loved here. That she was 'Grandma Loan' to all the children far and near was evidenced by the youthfulness of her spirit and the beauty of her nature.

Born in Belford, Northumberland, England, in 1828, she came with her husband and six children to this country in 1867, and settled in this county which has since been her home. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her husband George Loan Sr., her daughters, Mrs. Robert Patterson of Rudgeway, Colo., Mrs. Mary Goddard of Denver, Mrs. S. P. Ayer of Cleveland, Miss Tillie Loan, and her sons, George Loan Jr. of this city and Ed G. Loan of Chicago. . .
