Neil Gilleland

Dolliver – Mr. Neil Gilleland, 28, Dolliver, died of asphyxiation at his home in Dolliver, Saturday [January 15, 1977] morning. The body was discovered when a neighbor saw smoke coming from the garage.

Services for Mr. Gilleland are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pocahontas. Interment will be in the church's cemetery.

The Legion of Mary said Rosary at 4 p.m. today and a parish Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. today. Friends may call at Powers Funeral Home, Pocahontas, until time of services.

Mr. Gilleland was born at Emmetsburg on Dec. 14, 1948, and attended Pocahontas Catholic School. He entered the U.S. Army in December, 1966, and served until December, 1972, including two tours in Vietnam. He was married to Janet Hagen at Pocahontas on March 20, 1971, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; one son, James Gilleland; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Gilleland, Pocahontas; two sisters, Mrs. Darrell Johnson, Pocahontas, and Mrs. Dan Schuller, Mallard; and one brother, Dennis Gilleland, Fonda.
