*ANTON MEYER, 69, of St. Nazianz, a retired hardware merchant, died early today at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a lingering illness.
Born May 31, 1899 at St. Nazianz, a son of the late Isadora and Anna Anhalt Meyer, he was educated at St. Gregory School.
A resident of St. Nazianz his entire life, Mr. Meyer operated a hardware store for 33 years. He was also a carpenter and painter.
He married the former Mary Backhaus on Sept. 28, 1927, at St. Nazianz. She died May 4, 1967.
Mr. Meyer was a member of the Holy Name Society of St, Gregory Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Survivors include one son, Harlan, and one daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Lollie) Bushman, both of St. Nazianz; eight grandchildren; two brothers, August of Clarks Mills and Ervin of St. Nazianz, and one sister, Mrs. Ted Lettenberger of Manitowoc.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:45 a.m. at the Christianson Funeral Home, St, Nazianz, and at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gregory Putzer, pastor, as celebrant of the requiem Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
