Shirley H. Reihman, 77, of Connersville (Indiana), died Monday evening, November 19, 2007, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

She was a native of South Amana, Iowa, born May 18, 1930 to Herman and Carrie Geiger Shoup, both of whom precede her in death. She was a 1948 graduate of Amana High School and received her degree as a registered nurse from the University of Iowa in 1951. She had been employed as a registered nurse for several years prior to having children. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had served on many boards, including the Landmark Center, Fayette County Public Library, Area Artists Series and YMCA. She had also been a volunteer for the Red Cross and Home Nursing and Expectant Parent classes. Shirley was a dedicated member of the Fayette Garden Club as a master gardener, a master judge of the Indiana Association of Accredited Flower Show Judges and a member of the Indiana Landscape Design Critics. As an avid golfer, she was the winner of the Connersville Country Club 18 Hole Championship on three ocassions. She enjoyed running and placed first in her age division in the 1985 Detroit Marathon. She was the best wife, mom and grandma in the whole world.

Survivors include her husband, Harold J. Reihman, whom she married August 5, 1950 at the Methodist Church in Iowa City, Iowa; three children and their spouses: Dana Reihman, M.D. and Eileen Cravens, M.D. of Richmond, Sheri and Dave Schrock of Cohasset, MN, David W. and Melanie Reihman of Cincinnati, OH; three sisters and their spouses: Betty Waters of Amana, IA, Gladys Winter and David Winter, M.D. of Marshalltown, IA, Wilma and Larry Rettig of South Amana, IA; eight grandchildren: Katie, Anne and Stephanie Reihman, Somer, Emiko and Hanako Schrock, Nick and Carli Reihman; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Dave Galbraith officiating. Friends may visit at the church from 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service. Interment will be in the South Amana Cemetery, Amana, IA, at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2007. Shirley had requested a room full of flowers. Memorial contributions may also be made to the First United Methodist Church.
