"Walter Schroeder, 72, Meta died Saturday at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born July 16, 1909 at Meta, a son of John and Mamie Welsch Schroeder. On Nov. 18, 1931, he was married at St. Anthony to Sabina Wieberg, who died Oct. 25, 1979.
Mr. Schroeder had worked at Tweedie's Footwear in Jefferson City for 16 years. Then he worked as a custodian at Trinity Lutheran Church until his retirement in 1968. Mr. Schroeder was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Meta and the Men's Sodality of that church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. Alice Helton and Mrs. Helen Wankum, both of Meta, and Mrs. Dorothy Juergensmeyer of Koeltztown; three brothers, Otto Schroeder and Edwin Schroeder, both of Meta, and Roy Schroeder of Jefferson City; two sisters, Mrs. Polly Lock of Meta and Mrs. Olivia Blankenshsip of Jefferson City; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
