Simmen Rites Held At Gormley Home
Funeral services were held Friday morning a t the Gormley funeral home in Phoenicia for Mrs. Elsa Simmen, 60, former Pine Hill resident who died last week Wednesday at Meadowbrook hospital at Merrick, L.I. Burial was in the Oliverea cemetery.
Mrs. Simmen is survived by her husband, William Simmen of Merrick, three daughters, Mrs. Frieda Sprague of Merrick, Mrs. Wilma Sprague of Roxbury and Mrs. Rose George of Lake Hiawatha, N. J., and nine granddaughters. Also suriving are a brother, Anton Doebele of California, and a sister, Mrs. Gerhard Bindig of Oliverea.
A native of Germany, Mrs. Simmen was born March 27, 1909. She came to the United States in 1926 and was married in 1929.
A resident of the New York city area until 1944, Mrs. Simmen moved then to Pine Hill and opened the Orchard Park house, which she operated until recent years.
