VIRGIE LEE KEY, age 72 of Alvin, Texas passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 at her residence. Virgie was born on March 7, 1940 in LaGrange, Texas and was a resident of Alvin for 40 years. She was a homemaker and Episcopal by faith. Virgie is preceded in death by her parents, Leonie and Arthur Koopman, grandparents, Martha and Fritz Meineke, Sophie and Henry Koopmann, sister Martha Tate, and brother Ervin Koopmann.

Virgie is survived by her husband Don A. Key, 4 daughters, Debbie Brock and husband Bobby, Judy Bitner and husband Darwin, Donna Sildo, Jill Yarbrough and husband Jay, sister Carrie Ivey, 4 brothers, Poorboy Koopmann, Wilburn Koopmann, Dickey Koopmann and Curtis Koopmann, 9 grandchildren, Steven, Tiffany, Stephanie, Mark Anthony, Brittany, Darrin, Joshua, Jacob and Karissa, 8 great grandchildren, Grace, Kennedy, Dylan, Emma, Gavin, Paiton, Aiden and Molly.

The family would like to send a special thank you to . special friends, Darlene Mitchell, Abi Bitner, Teresa Bitner, Nicole Rhodes, Nicole McDonald, Mary Dilbert, Melanie Hines, and the staff of Kindred Hospital and Vitas Hospice for the special care given to their mother. Also the ministerial staff of First Church for their visits and prayers during this difficult time, numerous other relatives and friends who sent meals, cards, prayers and made visists.
