On Wednesday morning, October 19, Mrs. Dorathea Sircher passed away at the home of her son-in-law, Adolph Jensen on School Street, her age being eighty-three years one month and twenty-eight days. Although a woman of advanced years the deceased enjoyed fairly good health until the heat of the past summer set in. From that on she failed perceptibly and was obliged to take to her bed some five weeks ago. Since that time her relatives had little hope of her rallying and she herself was but waiting the hour of her passing.
Dorathea Bucher was born in Zurich, Switzerland, Aug. 21, 1827. She with her mother and family joined a party of Swiss emigrants and came to this country in June 1857, coming direct to Chilton where they located on a farm south of the city. In July of the same year she was married to the late Frederick Sircher, one of the prominent men of the town in early days and they began housekeeping on the farm in this city now owned by alderman Jos. Heimann. Mr. Sircher died Jan. 22, 1874 and Mrs. Sircher continued to operate the farm until 1892 when it was disposed of. Since that time she has made her home with her daughters who reside in this city and vicinity. Mrs. Sircher was well known to the early settlers of this city as a good and faithful friend and neighbor. She was hard working and frugal and did everything possible to properly raise and educate her family after her husband's death. She was a Christian woman in every sense of the word, being an active and devoted member of the Ebenezer Reformed church of this city. She is survived by one son, John Sircher of Barron and three daughters, Mmes. David Graf, Frank Mass and Adolph Jensen, all of whom mourn the death of a good mother. Besides her immediate family the deceased is survived by sixteen grandchildren and four great Grandchildren. The funeral will be held today from the Ebenezer church. Rev. W. A Arpke will have charge of the services.
