Aletha M. Kissner – Redfield

REDFIELD – Aletha M. Kissner, 62, of Redfield, died of natural causes Wednesday, Aug. 23, 1989, at her home.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist church in Redfield. The Rev. Arlene Wiekert will officiate.

Burial will be in Wessington Cemetery in Wessington under the direction of Coleman-Thelen Funeral Chapel of Redfield.

Aletha M. Walton was born Dec. 23, 1926, at Bonilla to William and Marilla (O’Hara) Walton. She married Leonard Kissner June 1, 1947, at Aberdeen. They lived in Rockham for 11 years. She taught rural school there. They moved to Redfield in November 1958. In 1960, she worked for the Redfield State Hospital and School. She retired in March 1988.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Redfield, Priscilla Circle, American Legion Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Marrilla Kessel of Florence, Ore.; six sons, Roger Kissner of Hoyt Lakes, Minn., Terry Kissner and Donald Kissner, both of Redfield, Albert Kissner of Aberdeen, Steven Kissner of Custer, and Kevin Kissner of Clarkfield, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. David (Cleone) Rice of Rockham and Mrs. Meredith (Roberta) Marshall of Kansas City, Kan.; four brothers, Marvin Walton of Huron, Lyle Walton and Leon Walton, both of Carter Lake, Iowa, and Melvin Walton of Omaha, Neb.; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1967.

Above obit provided by Susan (#47599474). I found a discrepancy regarding the death date for Althea M Walton Kissner. Social Security forms have her death as 1 Aug but her obituary ran August 25th.
