Adam J. Roth, 89, Liberal, died Monday, April 3, 2000, at the Satanta Long Term Care Unit in Satanta.

He was born April 26, 1910, to Joseph and Christina (Schaefer) Roth in Buenas Aires, Argentina.

He came to the United States with his parents as a child, they lived in Topeka in 1913, later moving to Julesburg, Colo., Holcomb and Deerfield, before living on a farm northwest of Plains.

He was a millwright for the Light Grain & Milling for 33 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Liberal.

He married Caroline M. Dreitz October 30, 1934, in Plains. She died March 12, 1979.

Survivors include two daughters, Irene Pepper and husband, Cliff, Liberal, and Esther Kinney and husband, Ernest, Oklahoma City, Okla.; one brother, Father James Jake Roth, Claflin; two grandchildren, Connie Jo Foster, Liberal, and Michael Kinney, Wichita; two
great-grandchildren, Kelly Foster, Liberal, and Jeffrey Kinney, Wichita.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Miller Chapel by the Knights of Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Revs. James J. Roth and Henry Hildebrandt presiding. Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal. Memorials are suggested to be made for masses in his memory.
