After an illness of two years Mrs. Pauline Muhs passed away peacefully at the home of her children, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Peterson, at Page City, Kansas.

Mrs. Muhs was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reimer Mundt and was born on July 20th, 1865, in Holstein in Germany. Having been baptized in infancy she was later confirmed into the Faith of her Father's. Soon after her confirmation, the family emigrated to the United States and found their new home in eastern Iowa.

After a few years they came to Clay county and settled in the vicinity of Everly. Here our departed friend met her future husband. They were married on March 18th, 1890. Mr. Muhs lived in O'Brien county and the young couple made their home there.

Six children were born to their union, one of whom died in infancy and another, their daughter, Martha, Mrs. Keith House, preceded her mother in death in April, 1926, at Maxwell, Nebr. Mr. Hans Muhs passed away at Hartley on March 20th, 1919.

Since that time his widow made her home with her children, spending most of her time with her son, Charles, near Hartley Two years ago Mrs. Muhs began ailing and it soon became evident that there was no hope for her complete recovery. Last fall she went to visit with her daughter, Mary, Mrs. Henry Peterson, in Kansas. She was up and about most of the time until May 2nd. From that day on it was but a matter of time and after sinking into a coma she peacefully slept away on Saturday night, May 8th, at 11:30.

Mrs. Muhs was of a cheerful disposition and enjoyed visiting with her children and her neighbors who will greatly miss her. She attained the age of 71 years. 10 months and 18 days.

She is survived by four children, two daughters, Amanda, Mrs. Ted Fahrenkrog, of Hartley, and Mary, Mrs. Henry Peterson, of Page City, Kansas, two sons, Charles and William, both of Hartley, five grandchildren, one great grandchild; two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, three sisters, one in Germany and Anna, Mrs. Henry Philipps, of Summers, Montana, and Dora, Mrs. August Krueger, of Hartley; four brothers, Mr. Reiner Mundt, and Mr. Charles Mundt, of Modesta Calif.; Mr. John Mundt, of Tyler, Minn., and Mr Henry Mundt of St. Paul, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Fredericka Muhs, one brother-in-law, Mr. Pete Muhs, both of Hartley, and four more brothers in-law and four more sisters-in-law, husbands and wives of the above mentioned. One sister, Mrs, Chas. Neinaber passed away in the spring of last year at Hancock, Minn., and a brother, William Mundt, many years ago.

Funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs, Henry Peterson, at Page City, Kansas, and the final services were conducted at the home of her son, Charles Muhs, on Thursday afternoon, May 13th, and at 2 o'clock at Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church at Hartley, Iowa.
