She was born in Spenzzano, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy. Jennie came to the United States, as a child, with her mother to join her father. At some point the family changed their name to Granto. Jennie married Amedo Governatori (son of Antonette Vite & Joseph Governatore). Jennie remarried to Vincenzo Ferro & During the 1940's & 1950's, they owned and operated the former Niagara Fruit Market. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
At the time of her death she was survived by a son, Salvatore "Sam" Ferro (Corky) of Snyder, NY; three daughters Alma (late Mark) D'Elia, Marie (Mario) Pirastru, both of Niagara Falls, and Frances (Clark) Dye, of Santa Ana, CA; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Jennie was also the mother of the late Joseph Governatori and Josephine Bonura; and sister of the late Frank Granto, Joseph Granto, Angeline Tolemeo, Vienna Laurendi, Susan Castiglione, Arlene Guarino, and Luisa Granato.
Visitation was at the Magaddino Memorial Chapel, 1338 Niagara Street where a parish wake service was held.
A High Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
