He was married twice, first to Pearl May GASKINS Richter (b.abt.1896 d.bef.1935) on September 11 1920 in Fremont PA, then to Laura SAVIDGE on December 31 1934 in Schuylkill Co. PA.
Rufus was survived by two known children of his first marriage (a son Wilmer and a daughter) and five known children of his second marriage. Another son, Monroe, died in 1959. He was also survived by one step-son, twelve grandchildren, a sister Carrie Klinger and a brother Elmer.
His obituary says that he was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion.
