George Janetos, 82, of Parkersburg, died Jan. 5, 2012, at his home. He was born in Parkersburg on May 31, 1929, to the late Pete and Lucille Merritt Janetos.

George was a veteran in the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge 198, and longtime member of Moose Lodge 1118 and VFW Post 1212. When George was younger, he enjoyed buying houses, fixing them up and selling them. He and his wife would start their own real estate business, Vienna Realty. He obtained his GRI (Graduate of Real Estate Institute) which is the highest degree you can earn in real estate. He was able to make and fix almost anything, and has passed that trait along to his family. He enjoyed cars, but above all else he loved his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Joan Janetos; two daughters, Lisa Janetos of Parkersburg and Linda Adams (Terry) of Veto, Ohio; two sons, Rick Janetos (Marlene) of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Russell Tomasini (Brenda) of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, Erica, Laura, Marcus, Crystal, Tommy, and Brittney; and two sisters, Kathrine Wilhelm (Dick) and Helene Knaus (Ray), both of Parkersburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3901 Briscoe Run, Parkersburg, WV 26104 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.

The services are going to be private, in accordance with George's wishes. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military rights by American Legion Post 15.
