She was born March 28, 1912 in Cairo WV. The daughter of the late Benjamin and Arthelia Bonar Merritt.
A loving mother and grandmother, "Lucy" was an avid Horsewoman who owned and rode horses much of her life. She belonged to the Little Kanawha Saddle Club. She loved music and traveling. She owned and operated several restaurants in Parkersburg including the Grand Café, El Rancho and the Acropolis retiring in 1975.
She is survived by three children, Helene J. Knaus and her husband Marion Ray, George Janetos and his wife Joan, Kathryn L. Wilhelm and her husband Richard. Six Grandchildren, Eight Great Granchildren and one Great Great Grandchild.
The last surviving member of her generation, she was preceded in death by 15 Brothers and Sisters.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 Am at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Pastor Michael Goff officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 until 4:00 PM.
