Darrell Everett Desch, 87, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday November 7, 2006 at a Topeka health center. Mr. Desch had been employed at the Colmery-ONeil V.A. Medical Center as a pharmacists assistant prior to his retirement. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Desch was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He was born in Topeka on September 23, 1919 the son of John and Minnie Faulk Desch. Mr. Desch was married in Topeka to Rose Desch on September 3. 1949. She survives at home. Other survivors include his son, Gregory Desch and a daughter, Kathy Modin; a sister, Virginia Arnold, and two grandchildren, Lindsey Modin and Matthew Modin, all of Topeka. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Jerome, Vincent, Ronald and Nolan.

Mr. Desch will lie in state at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home after 2:00 o'clock Wednesday. A parish rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday afternoon at 2:00 oclock at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorials to Sacred Heart Church, Topeka, or to Heart of America Hospice.
