Vincent George Desch, 82, Topeka, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at a Topeka hospital. He was born Feb. 15, 1917, in Topeka, the son of John and Minnie Faulk Desch.

Mr. Desch was a distribution clerk for the U.S. Postal Service until he retired in July 1978. He was Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Mr. Desch was a member of Church of the Assumption and Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Waunita Desch; a daughter, Jo Ann Schutte, Wichita; two brothers, Darrell Desch and Jerome Desch, both of Topeka; a sister, Virginia Arnold, Topeka; two half brothers, John Brost and Sylvester Brost, both of Topeka; and a granddaughter.

Mr. Desch preceded in death by a grandson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Church of the Assumption. Burial with military honors conducted by Post No. 1 of the American Legion will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Desch will lie in state after 2 p.m. Thursday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Assumption, 204 S.W. 8th St., Topeka.
