Irma S. Pearce
UNADILLA — Irma S. Pearce, 97, of Unadilla, passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, in the Skilled Nursing Facility of The Hospital, Sidney.
She was born July 19, 1904, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Bernard and Lydia (Leapple) Schubert.
She was married to Howard G. Pearce on Oct. 4, 1937, in Unadilla. They had just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
Irma owned and operated a beauty shop in Unadilla for more than 40 years.
She was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church of Unadilla and for many years was an active participant in many of the church's organizations.
She is survived by her husband, Howard G. Pearce, of Unadilla; her sisters, Elsa Haney of Delhi, Mathilda Hull and Helen Meszaros, both of Sidney; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Paul, Ludwig and Herman; and her sisters, Nellie, Lilly and Emma.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Unadilla, with the Rev. Joel T. Grigg, rector, and the Rev. William L. Day of Norwich officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.
Friends may call at the Westcott Funeral Home, 123 Main St., Unadilla, from 6 to 8 p.m. today, when the family will be in attendance.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church memorial fund in Irma S. Pearce's name.
