She was the daughter of Fred and Mary (Synck) Bohman. On May 10, 1944, she married Henry Schmitmeyer, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons: Ron (Irma), New Bremen, and Dale (Sandy), and Dave (Marge), both Minster; three daughters: Judy (Jan) Frericks, Mary Jo Granger and Susan (Mark) Bornhorst, all Minster; three sisters-in-law: Verena Bohman and Velma (Schmitmeyer) Wellman, both Coldwater, and Alberta Schmitmeyer, Minster; fourteen grandchildren: Tess (Steve) Abbott, Rod (Holly) Frericks, Brice (Brook) Schmitmeyer, Carrie (Jason) Becker, Aaron (Jayne) Schmitmeyer, Jessica (Darrel) Reese, Burke (Amy Jo) Granger, Justin (Missy) Schmitmeyer, Holly (Freddie) Johnson, Andy (Jenna) Schmitmeyer, John Schmitmeyer, Troy (Mandy) Bornhorst, Maria (Joel) Mendes, Valerie (Dustin) Gardner; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Deceased are five brothers: Alfred (Catherine), Otmer (Agnes), Elmer, Adrian and Maurice (Olivia); and four sisters: Catherine Bohman, Hedwig (Dick) Mescher, Dorena (Aloys) Knapke and Hilda (Elmer) Kremer.
