Marie Heidgerken, age 93 of Freeport, died Thursday, March 29, at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, April 2, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Rev. Roger Klassen officiated with burial following in parish cemetery.
Marie Heidgerken was born on Feb. 17, 1908 in Melrose to Henry and Anna (Westendorf) Middendorf. She married George Heidgerken on May 3, 1934 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. They farmed in Freeport all their lives until retirement in 1968. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport and the Christian Mothers.
Survivors include children: James Heidgerken and his wife, Doreen of St. Martin; John Heidgerken and his wife, Louise of Minnetonka; Dennis Heidgerken and his wife, Rita of Freeport; Charles Heidgerken and his wife, Shirley of Freeport; Paul Heidgerken and his wife, MaryAnn of Albany; Peter Heidgerken and his wife, Marilyn of Freeport; Irene Obermiller and her husband, James of Freeport; Bernard Heidgerken and his wife, Ann of Freeport; Mary Hinnenkamp and her husband, Ted of Albert Lea; Carol Setterholm and her husband, Glen of New Ulm; 34 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Herman Middendorf and his wife, Helen of Freeport, August "Happy" Middendorf of Freeport, Clara Michaels and her husband, Henry of Freeport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Anna Middendorf; husband, George Heidgerken on March 6, 1985; son, George Heidgerken Jr. in1970; grandson, Steven Heidgerken; brothers and sisters, Fred Middendorf, Joe Middendorf, Henry Middendorf, Elizabeth Brickweg, Aurelia Gaebel, Josepha Hiltner, Annie Klaphake.
Serving as casketbearers were grandchildren. Serving as cross bearer was Sue Rieland and scripture bearer was Kathy Middendorf. Serving as honorary bearers were the great-grandchildren.
