Mildred P. Haverkamp was born Sept. 23, 1919, in rural Becker County, Minn., where she grew up and attended school. She married Erling Baukol. They lived in Waubun, Minn., and later moved to Detroit Lakes. In 1978 she married Frank Brandt. They lived in Seattle until 1986, when they moved back to Detroit Lakes. He died in 1997. She became a resident of Emmanuel Nursing home in 1997.

She is survived by two sons, David (Marilynn), Yelm, Wash., Donald (Sandra), Chula Vista, Calif.; a brother, Arthur (Dorothy Mae), Hibbing, Minn.; three sisters, Oramay Peterson, Casselton, N.D., Rita (Norrie) Brekke, Elbow Lake, Minn., Joy Ann Jerdee, Minneapolis; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
