Ivan Haverkamp, age 83, Hibbing, died Tuesday, December 3, 1996, in a local nursing home. He was born April 22, 1913, in Calloway MN, to Herman and Mary Haverkamp.

He lived in Detroit Lakes MN, until moving to Hibbing in 1935.

He married Lauretta McCabe in 1936. He retired as a heavy equipment operator at the Hanna-Butler Mine. He worked for Civilian Conservation Corps Company 717 at Side Lake in 1934 and 1935. He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Hibbing Moose Club, Izaak Walton League, Swamp Siders Snowmobile Club, Knights of Columbus and United Steelworkers of America Local 2660. He was also a gun safety instructor and was past president of the Pokegama Dance Club.

Ivan is survived by his wife, Lauretta; daughter, Patricia (Anders W.) Stone; sons: Francis (Susan), and Robert (Carol); brothers: Wilbert (Doris), Harlow, Ervin (Dorothy), and Arthur "Red" (Dorothy Mae); sisters: Ora May Peterson, Mildred Brandt, Marie Heinen, Evie DeVoe, Rita (Norold) Brekke, and Dolly Jerdee; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother
