He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. In 1948, he moved from Detroit Lakes Minnesota, to Hibbing. He entered the sacrament of marriage with Dorothy Mae Olson on April 3, 1948, in Hibbing. Arthur was employed with Shell Tire Service, retiring in 1989, after 32 years of service. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8510 of Hibbing. His pastimes included: craftwork, hunting and fishing. He loved the outdoors. Arthur also had a hobby farm until 2005.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Fayette (Gerald) Gibson; son, Philip Haverkamp; sister, Rita Brekke; grandchildren: Crystal Dombrovske, Travis (Nikki Rose) Gibson and Donovan Gibson; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Melverna Pfeiffer, Marie Heinen, Mildred Brant, Evelyn DeVoe, Joyann Jerdee and Ora Mae Peterson; and brothers: Ivan, Wilbert, Harlo, Irvin and Lawrence Haverkamp.
