Anna Gabel Reiter


WORDEN, MT. -------- Anna Gabel Reiter, 84 passed away peacefully, to be with the Lord on Oct. 10, 1993, at Parkview Convalescent Home.


Born Nov. 25, 1908, at Samaria, Russia to Christofer and Katherine Balzer Gabel, she migrated with her family from Russia in 1913.


The family farmed in the Worden-Ballantine area.

Later Anna met Alex P. Reiter at church choir and was married two years later on Dec. 28, 1926.

They had four sons who worked on the family farm in Huntley.

Anna called them "hard years" but also :happy times".

Alex died July 13, 1965.


Anna was always busy working.

She loved to garden and preserve foods. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren. During her active years she worked at the Huntley Project Museum under the Senior Citizens "Green Thumb Project".

She was also a member of Bethlehem Congregational Church.


Anna's family will dearly miss her sweet smile and quick sense of humor.

Her generosity and sacrificial giving will truly be remembered.


Anna is survived by sons, Harold J. (wife Amy) of Laurel and Leo (wife Shirley) of Huntley; daughter-in-law Helen of Laurel; son Edward of Billings; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.


Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Alex' her parents; four brother; three sisters; and most recently by her son, George William Reiter.


Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at the Bethlehem Congregational Church, Worden.


Interment will be in the Pleasantview Cemetery in Ballantine, MT.


Memorials to Bethlehem Congregational Church, Huntley Project Museum or to the charity of your choice.
