HISTORY OF JOHANN FREUND, Sr. from "The Freunds, 1660-1985, Germany to America" by Judy Schmitz:
Servatius married Anna Mary Merten and after they arrived, they farmed about 1/2 mile north of St. Peter. Nine children were born to them and on May 18, 1856 Servatius died at the age of 45. He was laid to rest in St. John's old Catholic Cemetery at Johnsburg. Their children ranged from age 20 to 6 months at the time of his death and that was such a hardship for the family. With the help of the older children, they were able to stay on the farm for a while.
