A memorial service for John A. Heinen of Wannaska will be held on Friday, March 25, at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Skime at 2:00 p.m. A public visitation will be held on Thursday at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau from 5-7 p.m. with a devotional service at 6:30 p.m.
John was born on June 25, 1941 in Warroad MN to Anna (Schmit) and George Heinen. He graduated from Warroad High School in 1959. John married Shirley Clasen on May 4, 1963. She passed away in 1989. He married Deanna "Dee" Syverson on May 13, 1994. They lived in Warroad until 2000 when they moved to Skime, MN.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and the outdoors in general. He commercial fished for over 20 years. He then worked at Marvin Windows and Doors, Christian Brothers, and later at Polaris Industries until 2004 when he retired. John loved his grandchildren dearly and spent a lot of time with them. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Skime.
John Heinen passed away on Monday, March 21, at LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau. He was 69 years old.
John is survived by his wife Deanna of Wannaska,; children John Jr. (Kristina) of Salol, Lisa (Robert) Bannert of Roseau, Dan Comstock of Badger, Travis Shimpa and Brian (April) Shimpa of Erskine, MN; seven grandchildren; sister, Shirley Gordon of Eureka, CA; and brother, George Jr. (Harriet) Heinen of Warroad, MN.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley; his parents Anna and George Heinen,; brother Dean Heinen; and sisters Marilyn Moyer and Lois Fortier.
