Maxine M. Sherman, 84, of DeWitt, Iowa, and formerly of Maquoketa and Baldwin, died on Sunday morning, October 6, 2013, at West Wing Place in DeWitt, Iowa.
A celebration of Maxine's life will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, October 10, 2013, from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11 A.M. on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be at the Pence Cemetery, rural Baldwin, Iowa.

Maxine Marie Manning was born on June 14, 1929 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Silas and Stella (Welch) Manning. She grew up in Maquoketa and attended the "Red School". She married Ray O. Sherman on June 23, 1946 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2010.

Maxine had first worked at Clinton Engines. She then worked as a nurses aide at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa for 18 years. She lastly had worked as a caregiver to the elderly.

Maxine loved her family, flowers, gardening, strawberries and angels. She and Ray moved to Kansas in 1995, and after his death in 2010, she moved to West Wing Place in DeWitt.Those left to honor Maxine's memory include her children, David (Mary) Sherman of San Diego, CA, Margie (Jerry) Danielson of Davenport, IA, Dorothy (L.C.) Steffen of Maquoketa, IA, and Karen (Mark) McCleery of Barstow, CA; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Helen Sherman of Maquoketa, IA, and Mary Manning of Maquoketa, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 6 brothers, 3 sisters, a son-in-law, and a great-granddaughter.
