John Peter Labouchere was the younger son of Peter Cesar Labouchere (1772-1839), a Hugenot banker and his wife Dorothy Elizabeth Baring. In 1830 he married Mary Loiusa DuPre 2nd daughter of the Hugenot James DuPre of Wilton Park, Buckinghamshire. Together they had 3 sons and 6 daughters. The family lived at Broome Hall near Leith Hill. His London home was Portland Place. He was a dedicated supporter of the Hospital for Sick Children in Great Ormond Street which opened in 1852. He was appointed Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Surrey in 1857 and served as the High Sheriff of Surrey in the same year. He built and endowed Christ Church at Coldharbour which was consecrated in 1848. He also paid for the building of an infant school in Capel which opened in 1851.
