Born on February 4, 1932, in Carroll, Jeanette Margaret was the daughter of Joseph and Nellie (Timmerman) Baumhover. She graduated from Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School in 1950. On May 20, 1952, Jeanette married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Nees at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Jeanette and Kenny made the Mt. Carmel area their home where they farmed and raised ten children with unconditional love.

Jeanette was an avid gardener and known for her gentle but strong spirit, her incredible memory, and especially going out of her way to take a keen interest in the lives of each and every member of her family. She touched the lives of many with her compassion and generosity, whether it was her contributions to charitable causes or her gifts to family, friends and neighbors of home baked bread, lovingly stitched quilts, or the greatest gift of all, her time. Jeanette lived by an old saying handed down by her mother: "Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without."

Jeanette had a strong faith in God. She was generous with her time, talents and treasures as a member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel's Ladies Guild, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, and as a long time co-chair of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Funeral Luncheon Committee. In addition, she was a devoted volunteer at the nursing homes and volunteered 37 years at New Hope Bargain Store.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Nees of Mt. Carmel; ten children: Dan (Kathy) Nees of Ankeny, Tom (Rosanne) Nees of Carroll, Steve (Iris) Nees of Halbur, Joan (Ed) Wehr of Westphalia, Chris (Randy) Blake of Wiota, Theresa Potthoff (Jerry Green) of Pauls Valley, OK, Susan Nees (Scott Ainsworth) of Watkinsville, GA, Jill (John) Kolb of Ames, Joe (Monica) Nees of Breda, and Mike (Kim) Nees of Carroll; 30 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Winifred (Ray) Jorgenson of Carroll, Virgil (Mary) Baumhover of Carroll, Jim (Marie) Baumhover of Mt. Carmel, Betty (Jerry) Klocke of Carroll, Lenore (Richard) Fiedler of Scranton, Anita (Francis) Fiedler of Estes Park, CO, Lorin (Lorraine) Baumhover of Boone, NC, and Roger (Mary) Baumhover of St. Paul, MN; her in-laws Rita Dentlinger of Manning, Rosella Berger of Carroll, Mary Ann Brandt of Manilla, and Duane (Loretta) Nees of Cincinnati, OH.
