CRASH FATAL TO MERCHANT

Funeral services for Ferd Feldman, 35, prominent local business man who was fatally injured Monday when the machine in which he was riding crashed into the Miami and Erie Canal in Ft. Loramie, four miles south of Minster, will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the St. Augustine church with the Rev. Fr. Sixtus Meyer, officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.

Feldman with a companion, Arthur Ritter, 24, also of Minster and driver of the ill fated car, were returning home from Piqua where they had spent Sunday evening. The driver lost control of the machine as they were rounding a curve in the road and hurtled an iron railing and landed in the canal bottom which was partly filled with water.

Ritter managed to extricate himself from the wreckage and seek medical attention at a Ft. Loramie doctor. Two hours after the accident is alleged to have occurred. The body of Feldman was found by people who were attracted to the scene.

Shelby county Coroner Rocker, who was called in, pronounced death to injuries sustained in the crash and declared it his belief that the young man was dead before the wrecked machine was partly submerged by water. Ritter escaped serious injuries and was taken to his home.

The dead man is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Feldman; two sisters, Josephine and Rosemary, and two brothers, Clem and Anthony, all at home.
