Garden City -- Joseph D. Dreiling, 83, died Tuesday afternoon at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City, after a brief illness. Born Dec. 8, 1882 at Rohleder, Russia, he was a retired farmer, carpenter and sugar worker, living here since 1927.

He married Catherine Knoll Nov. 4, 1904 at St. Peter. She died in 1946.

Member: St. Mary's Catholic Church, Garden City.

Survivors: Daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Knoll, Garden City; Mrs. Rosie Smith and Mrs. Catherine Miles, both of Lakin; sons, Joe, Al, Godfrey and Charles, all of Garden City; brothers, Dan and Jake Dreiling, both of Denver; sisters, Mrs. Margaret Riedel, Salina; Elizabeth Dreiling, Hays; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday, at the church; Rev. Gregor Dues. Burial: Valley View Cemetery, Garden City. Rosary: 8 p.m. Thursday, Gamand Funeral Chapel, Garden City. Call: 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, at the chapel.
