Mr. Garrett Davis "Buddy" Jackson, 94, died Friday, April 2, 2004, at Avalon Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Newnan, Ga.

He was born Dec. 22, 1909 in Coweta County. He was the son of the late Jim Jackson and the late Effie Frances (Newman) Jackson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances McElreath Jackson in 1992. Mr. Jackson had been a signal maintainer for Atlanta and West Point Railroad prior to his retirement. He was a charter member of Unity Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, and he was a Mason.

Surviving are daughters, Carolyn (Jackson) Davis and husband Oliver of Hogansville, Ga. and Ann (Jackson) Vinyard and husband Mike of Moreland, Ga. His grandchildren are Anthony Lee Davis and his wife Shannon and Mark Anthony Davis and his wife Denna. Great grandchildren are Olivia Marie Davis, Garrett Michaell Davis and William Dallas Vinyard. Also surviving are three brothers, Dan Jackson and Phillip Jackson of Newnan, and Joe Jackson of Kent, Washington.

Arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, Ga., where the family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004. Funeral service will be at McKoon Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 4, Rev. David Dickerson, Rev. Paul Dennis, Rev. Alex Montgomery officiating. Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.

He was a charter member of Unity Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon.
