Marie C. Gartner, 78, of Topeka passed away on Monday, June 23, 2008 at a Topeka hospital following her illness due to various health issues.
She was born Feb. 18, 1930 at Aurora, Illinois the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Vonfeldt) Burghart.
She was a life member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Marie was a member of Daughters of Isabella. Marie was a full-time homemaker and devoted wife.
Mrs. Gartner was married to Albert Gartner in October 23, 1947 at her church in Topeka. Albert preceded her in death on April 9, 1985.
Survivors include her sons, Philip Gartner, Douglas P. Gartner and wife Paula; daughter, Chris Williams; grandchildren, Troy and Alec; sister, Barbara Burghart all of Topeka and her brother, Joe Burghart in Illinois.
Preceding her in death were her brothers, Al, Jake, John, and George Burghart.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 28th. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Topeka. She will lie in state from 4-9 pm Friday at St. Joseph's. Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be held at 5:00 pm at the church, Parish Rosary will be held at 6:00 pm.
