F. Oliver dies at home

BATAVIA - Francis Abraham (Abe) Oliver, 77, rural Batavia, died at 6:30 a.m. today at his home.

The son of Harrison and Sarah Margaret Hutton Oliver, he was born June 16, 1902 in Van Buren County. On Feb. 1, 1924 he married Florence Rogers in Eldon. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, L. K. of Kent, England, Gordon and Brace, both of Selma; four daughters, Wanda Zuehlke of Washington, Vivian Sherred of Memphis, Tenn., Violet Wise of Lake Odessa, Mich., Miriam Headley of Wichita, Kan.; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Nora Rogers, Mabel Brown and Verne Thomas, all of Eldon and Maggie Palmer, Nevada, Mo.

Oliver was a retired farmer and a minister in the Church of the Brethren. He was a member of the Libertyville Church of the Brethren.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds. Memorials may be made to Oliver's church.
