Kevin D. "Red" Blocker, 77, Topeka, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Blocker was a retired construction worker. He had worked for Jack Henry in Ottawa, the Douglas Brothers, Topeka Asphalt and Hankamer Asphalt in Topeka. He retired in March 1987 after 23 years with Consumer Sand. He worked for Kooser Auctioneering.

He was born Jan. 9, 1925, in Seneca, the son of Clements A. and Mary E. Levings Blocker.

He lived in Seneca until he moved to Topeka in 1949. Mr. Blocker was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. He was a 40-year member of Union No. 101 Operating Engineers.

He married Shirley A. Sams on Jan. 24, 1952, in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Daniel Blocker, Kevin T. Blocker and Donald E. Blocker, all of Topeka; three daughters, Karen E. Blocker, Charlotte A. Tiffany and Coleen M. Adame, all of Topeka; four brothers, Edward Leroy Blocker, Holton, Murty P. Blocker, Topeka, James Blocker, Seattle, and Regis Blocker, Lucerne, Mo.; two sisters, Felicia Boechmann, Holton, and Joan Rezac, Emmett; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Blocker will lie in state after 2 p.m. Monday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where rosaries will be recited by the Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle No. 503 at 5 p.m. and the parish at 5:30 p.m.
