Johannes Christoph Friedrichs was born in Hakenstedt, which is now part of the city of Erxleben. Christoph, as he was known, was a son of Johannes Heinrich Friedrichs and Marie Catharine Ulrich.
Christoph Friedrichs was baptized December 20, 1840, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hakenstedt, Germany. His baptismal sponsors were Christoph Ulrich, Christian Deike, Friederike Wahrenberg nee Bosse, and Marie Tinkernelle nee Ulrich.
Christoph Friedrichs was confirmed April 1, 1855, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ummendorf, Germany.
Christoph Friedrichs married Marie Dorothea Elisabeth Luddemann on 1 April 1861, in Siegersleben, Germany. They were the parents of five sons and four daughters. Sadly, only one of their sons lived to adulthood.
Christoph Friedrichs was a farmer and shepherd. He died at the early age of 45 years of blood poisoning shortly after he and Dorothea celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.

Christoph Friedrichs was survived in death by his wife, Dorothea (nee Luddemann) Friedrichs; his parents, Johann Heinrich Friedrichs and Marie Catherine ( nee Ulrich) Friedrichs; his son, Hermann Friedrichs; his daughters, Marie (nee Friedrichs) Blankenstein, Alwine Friedrichs, Emilie Friedrichs, and Elsbeth Friedrichs; and two grandchildren, Hermann and Mamie Blankenstein.
