Heinrich Hermann Friedrichs was the third child and first-born son of Christoph and Dorothea (nee Luddemann) Friedrichs.
Onkel Hermann was baptized October 20, 1865, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ummendorf, Germany. His baptismal sponsors were Friedrich Mueller, Sophie Duckstein nee Lipke, and Heinrich Schulze.
Hermann Friedrichs was confirmed April 6, 1880, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ummendorf. Hermann's confirmation text was St. Luke 11:28 "But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it".
Onkel Hermann became a mechanical engineer. He worked at a factory in Braunschweig, Germany, and later, at a factory in Magdeburg, Germany, that employed over 8,000 workers.
Onkel Hermann Friedrichs married Auguste Friederike Starker on January 17, 1896, in Hildburghausen, Thuringia, Germany. Tante Auguste was born September 1, 1874, in Hildburghausen; she was the daughter of Johann Starker and Marie Vogel.
Hermann and Auguste (nee Starker) Friedrichs were the parents of two daughters and four sons:
(1.) Erna Berta Friedrichs born April 22, 1897, in Braunschweig, Germany.
(2.) Auguste Gretchen "Grete" Friedrichs born October 26, 1898, in Braunschweig
(3.) Hans Joachim Friedrichs born October 26, 1898, in Braunschweig.
(4.) Wilhelm Richard "Willi" Friedrichs born January 2, 1903, in Braunschweig.
(5.) Richard Friedrichs born April 26, 1905, in Braunschweig.
(6.) Rudolf Herbert Friedrichs born October 10, 1909, in Magdeburg, Germany.

Hermann Friedrichs kept in close contact with his older sister Marie Blankenstein in Texas, and with his uncle, Wilhelm Friedrichs, in Illinois.
Hermann Friedrichs died in Magdeburg, Germany, at the age of 59 years. His funeral and burial occurred on May 19, 1925, in Magdeburg.
At his death, Hermann Friedrichs was survived by his wife of 28 years, Auguste Friedrichs nee Starker; his two daughters, Erna and Grete Friedrichs; his four sons, Hans, Willi, Richard, and Herbert Friedrichs; and three sisters, Alwine Domke nee Friedrichs, Emilie Voigt nee Friedrichs, and Elsbeth Emmer nee Friedrichs.
