Funeral services were conducted here last Friday afternoon in Zion Evangelical U.B. church for Mrs. William Wagner, a life-long resident of Culbertson, who died in the Presbyterian hospital in Denver on Wednesday of last week.

During the services, which were conducted by the pastor, Rev. M.G. Braun, the songs, "Peaceful Slumber" and "Asleep in Jesus," were sung by a ladies' quartet composed of Mrs. Willard Rippen, Mrs. Wilbert Wagner, Mrs. M.G. Braun, and Mrs. Everett Kern. Mrs. Carl Herman served as organist.

Casket bearers were Donald Miller, Duane Wagner, Dallas Wagner, John Barnes, Wilbert Wagner, and Donald Fahrenbruch. The Herrmann funeral home of McCook was in charge of arrangements, and interment was made in the Culbertson cemetery.

Clara Wagner, nee Wacker, a daughter of Conrad and Christina Wacker, was born in Culbertson, Nebraska on October 17, 1897 and departed this life in Denver, Colorado on September 22, 1954, having attained the age of 56 years, 11 months, and five days.

She was married in Culbertson to William Wagner on November 4, 1925. They were the parents of four children, two of whom preceded their mother in death. One son, Billie Jr. died in infancy, and their other son, Jerry Lee, died at the age of seven.

The deceased had been a member of Zion Evangelical U.B. church in Culbertson since 1917. During her 37-year membership, she served the church in many capacities, including Sunday school teacher and superintendent, church pianist, and as a member of the WSWS and church choir.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Willa Mae and Elizabeth Ann; three sisters, Mrs. Lydia Spahn, Mrs. Elizabeth Fahrenbruch, and Mrs. Esther Huber, all of Culbertson, and many other relatives and friends. Her parents and one brother, Sam, preceded her in death.
