".. in 1852. . Theodore Repking was authorized to borrow $80 to build a school, resulting in a log structure with a fireplace which cost $49. . .. Some interesting facts have been recorded about other early teachers. Henry Repking later moved to St Louis. " Theodore taught at Bishop Creek 1854-1855.

An article published in Germany about Anton Repking, contained the following statement: "In the year 1855/1856, within six months, his parents and his brother Dieterich died; the wife of the German Language teacher, Elisabeth Frilling, likewise born in Oythe, one year later married Clemens Hawickhorst from Vestrup and moved to Teutopolis." The reference to Dieterich should have been to Theodore, since the records at St Francis in Teutopolis contain references to him and Elizabeth Fruhling.

The children of Theodore and Elizabeth Margarette were baptized at St Francis in Teutopolis, Teutopolis, Effingham, Illinois, USA and are buried in the old Cemetery there. The names of two of the infant daughters are listed on a marker in the old Cemetery which was installed in the 1980's commemorating the early settlers who are buried there.
