Tuesday afternoon, about 4 o'clock, David Wagner was taken suddenly ill and went to bed but shortly afterward rolled off the bed onto the floor, where he expired a few minutes later from heart trouble.

Mr. Wagner had been complaining during the afternoon, but owing to the fact that Mrs. Wagner is a confirmed invalid, there was no one to send for assistance. The body remained on the floor until about 6 o'clock Wednesday morning when Mrs. Ucker, a neighbor, hearing the cries of Mrs. Wagner, went to the house and the situation became generally known.

Coroner Fellers of Palisade was notified of the death and after viewing the remains decided that it was not necessary to call a jury and returned the following verdict: State of Nebraska, Hitchcock County: At an inquisition holden at Culbertson in Hitchcock County, Nebraska, on the 17th day of June, A.D. 1914 by me, A.B. Fellers, coroner of said county, on the body of David Wagner, lying dead before me, upon my oath, do say that said deceased came to his death from heart failure. Dated this 17th day of June 1914, A.B. Fellers, Coroner.

Mr. Wagner was 64 years, 11 months, and 3 days old at the time of his death. He leaves a wife, three sons, and two daughters. The remains will be buried Saturday afternoon, awaiting the arrival of children from Montana.

Another one of the old settlers has gone to his reward. David Wagner died at his home in the north part of town on June 16 of heart failure at the age of 64 years, 11 months, and 3 days.

Mr. Wagner was born July 13, 1849 in Frank, Russia. In the year 1869 he was married to Miss Marie Katharina Hock. Fourteen children were born to this union, nine of whom died in infancy. Three sons, Henry, George, and Conrad, and two daughters, Mrs. Herrenbruch and Mrs. Fritz, with his wife, survive him.

Mr. Wagner came from Fatherland in 1886 and took up a homestead five miles north of town, where he lived with his family till he went to Montana in 1904, where he lived in the Crow Agency for four years and then returned to Culbertson where he made his home until his death.

Besides his wife, who is an invalid from being paralyzed over three years ago, he leaves five children, three brothers, seventeen grandchildren, and many relatives and friends to mourn his departure.

Funeral services were held in the Evangelical church last Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. A. Hanke officiating, assisted by the Rev. F. Reichardt and Rev. Throckmorton. Interment in Culbertson cemetery.
