Stella Marie Allen, 86, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2014, in Pueblo, Colo. Stella Marie Allen She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rose Nigro; siblings, Mike (Jean) Nigro, Virginia (Silverio) Colalancia, Eva (Leo) Alfonso and Lorraine (Bill) Reininger. She is survived by her children, Michael (Susan) Allen, Theresa Kahanic, Frank Allen, Judith Allen; sister, Joanna (Albert) Collette; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Spokane, Wash., on July 23, 1927, she grew up in Walsenburg and Pueblo. Stella spent many years as a foster parent caring for numerous babies awaiting adoptions. She also was an accomplished seamstress and operated a small business creating custom draperies. She was retired from the Pueblo County Sheriff's Department. Stella was an excellent cook who loved to feed her family and friends. She was renowned for her delicious pizzas. Viewing, 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the funeral home. Rosary, 9:30 a.m., followed by funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, St. Mary Catholic Church, with interment at Imperial Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stella's name to Sangre de Cristo Hospice or St. Mary Church.
