Orlando Mike Nigro, 75, born Jan. 29, 1930, passed away March 9, 2005. Preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Virginia, in 2001; his parents, Frank and Rose Nigro; sisters, Lorraine Reininger, Jeanna Colalancia, and Eva Alfonso; brother-in-law, Leo Alfonso; and nephews, Kevin Alfonso and John Collette. Survived by his children, Michael (Carolyn Velasquez) Nigro, and Luann (Andrew) Silva; granddaughters, Nicole and Nichelle Nigro, and Sara Silva; sisters, Stella Allen and Jo Anna (Albert) Collette; sister-in-law, Lorraine (Jim) Clark and family; and brothers-in-law, Russell (Eloise) and John (Merle) Venezio and families, Sil Colalancia and Bill Reininger; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. Orlando served on the board of directors at Power Credit Union for more than 45 years. He was a life member of BPOE No. 90, and Pueblo Aerie No. 145. He graduated from Central High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. Orlando retired from the CF&I Steel Corp. in May of 1983. Viewing, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. Vigil service, 7 p.m. Sunday, and funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Monday. Both services at Our Lady of the Meadows Church. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of food and flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Meadows Church or Sangre de Cristo Hospice in Orlando's memory.
