Frank J. Weingardt of Sandpoint, Idaho, who retired from the Denver Parks and Recreation Department, died May 26 in Sandpoint. He was 74.

Mass of Christian Burial was said June 1 at the Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary. Interment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

He was born July 13, 1920, in Sterling. In 1941 he married Isabel Heronema in Denver.

During World War II Weingardt served with the Army. He worked for the City of Denver in the Parks and Recreation Department from 1957 to 1982. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6616, Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph Parish in Sandpoint.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Tony, Golden, Bernie, Park City, Utah, Dan, Denver, and Frank, Sandpoint; three daughters, Christine Bender, Arvada, Isabel Surratt, Peoria, Ariz., and Barbara Perea, Denver; a brother, Martin; two sisters, Lizzy Sevalt and Catherine Cook; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
