Paul Matthew Weingardt, 58, of Peetz, died at Sterling Regional MedCenter Wednesday, Dec. 4,1991.
Mr. Weingardt was born in Sterling April 25, 1933 to John and Barbara (Kaberline) Weingardt. He grew up in Sterling and attended St. Anthony's School.He was in the U.S. Navy for 18 years. He lived and worked in Kansas after his retirement from the Navy and prior to returning to Sterling. At returning to Sterling, he worked as a carpenter and at Sterling Lumber Company before buying the Broadway Cafe. He operated the Broadway Cafe until his health forced retirement. Mr. Weingardt was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church,V.F.W., American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. He also had two tours of duty in Viet Nam. He is survived by his wife, Edna Weingardt of Peetz; Two children, Lorena Patzer of Wyoming and Becky Weingardt of Florida; four step-children, Claron, Lloyd, Cecil and Kenneth Bailey; two brothers and two sisters, Martin Weingardt of Sterling and Frank Weingardt of Idaho, Catherine Cook of Utah and Elizabeth Sevalt of Iliff.
Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the Rosay con ducted at 7 p.m. Friday at Tennant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Antho ny's Catholic Church with the Rev. Roger Fuller officiating. Burial will be Saturday at Peetz Cemetery in Peetz. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Jake Uhrig Post No. 3541.
