Fred was born in Marysville, Union County, Ohio to Leonard and Margaret (Gundeman) Hoffman on December 11, 1896. He married Alma Scheiderer on Jun 3, 1922. They had no children and lived most of their married life in Connersville, Indiana where he worked in the newspaper office. Fred died in Connersville on November 10, 1979 and is buried in the Dale Cemetery.
