Marie Katherine Herman was born May 17, 1874 at Laubway, Russia. She was married to Conrad Herman on January 20, 1894 at Laubway and came to the United States with her husband in 1912, arriving in the Culbertson community on October 14 of that year. Mr. and Mrs. Herman lived on a farm north of Culbertson until 1940, when they established their home in town. Mr. Herman preceded his wife in death, having died February 29, 1948.
Survivors include five sons, Henry of McCook; Conrad of Culbertson; Peter of Cambridge; and Carl and Phillip, both of Culbertson; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Shaffer of Pierce, Colorado; and Mrs. Marie Alberts of McCook; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held here at 2 o'clock this (Thursday) afternoon at Zion Evangelical U.B. church, with the pastor, Rev. M.G. Braun, officiating. Interment will be in the Culbertson cemetery under direction of the Herrmann Funeral Home of McCook.
