Lapwai Pioneer Dead
W. P. Bounds, son of the West and 20 Years Resident of Lapwai Valley, Passed Away Last Night From Complications.
W. P. Bounds, a pioneer of the Lapwai section and a son of the west, died last evening at 9:45 at the White hospital from general complications following heart trouble and Bright's disease. Mr. Bounds was about 64 years of age and is survived by a wife and ten children. It is probable the funeral will be conducted Wednesday.
Mr. Bounds was born in the Willamette valley, Oregon, and spent his entire life in the west. He was on the frontier until the farmer and his fences extended to all sections, and about twenty years ago came to the Lapwai valley as an employe of the government in the capacity of machinist and blacksmith. The agency buildings were then located at Spalding and Mr. Bounds resided there for a number of years. After retiring from the government service he continued his residence in the Lapwai valley and for several years followed his trade of machinist and blacksmith.
He had been in poor health for the past four years but it was not until about two weeks ago that his condition became serious. He was then brought to the White hospital, but the malady was of such a nature that the ravages could not be stemmed. Mrs. Bounds and eight of the children were at the bedside last evening when the end came. The children are Mrs. W. G. Papeheau and O. R. Bounds, Kellogg, who will come today; Grace, Sidney, Wade, W. W. and Lloyd Bounds, Mrs. Glenn Sewell, Mrs. P. E. Smead, of Opportunity, and Miss Lillie Bounds.
Mr. Bounds was a gentleman who enjoyed a wide and sincere friendship in every community where he resided. He possessed sterling qualities of character and leaves behind him a record of many good deeds.

Funeral of Mr. Bounds
Remains of Lapwai Pioneer Were Laid to Rest Yesterday.
The funeral of the late W. P. Bounds, of Lapwai, was conducted yesterday at 11:30 o'clock from the Vassar chapel by the Rev. M. E. Bollen, of the Baptist Church. The services were largely attended, large numbers coming from Lapwai and Spalding where Mr. bounds resided for many years. The floral offerings were most beautiful and profuse. The sons and a nephew acted as pall bearers and tenderly bore the remains to their last resting place. Vocal solos were rendered by Mrs. Charles Ferris, the accompanist being Mrs. Frank Morris.

The parents of Mrs. Walt Disney. Their daughter Lillian graduated from Lapwai High School in 1918, and married famous cartoonist Walt Disney on July 13, 1925, on Third Street, five blocks from Normal Hill.
