He was the son of Hugh and Roxie Wooden. He married Phyllis Hendricks, and she survives.
Wooden graduated from Martinsville High School in 1934. He was an educator.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Wooden of Alamogordo, N.M.; and two brothers, John Wooden of California and William "Bill" Wooden of LaPorte.
His service was Dec. 8, 1997, in Alamogordo. Cremation followed.
