Le Mars, Iowa - Mrs. Will Johnsen, 88, of Le Mars died Saturday in a Sioux City hospital after a short illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. John’s American Lutheran Church In Le Mars. The Rev. David Kramer and the Rev. William Striepe will officiate. Burial will be in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today in the Mauer Funeral Home. Mrs. Johnsen, the former Etta Brunken, was born March 3, 1894, in Grant Township, Plymouth County, and was a lifelong area resident. She married Will Johnsen Oct. 8, 1914, at rural Le Mars. They farmed most of their married life, retiring to Le Mars in 1957. He died in 1963. Mrs. Johnsen was a member of St. John’s American Lutheran Church and was an active member of the Senior Citizens Group. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Regina) Borchers of Le Mars; one son, Elmer of Winston-Salem, N. C.; one sister, Mrs. Rieka Renken of Le Mars; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
